Sylvia is the coordinator of Membership Communications at the Public Affairs Council. Sylvia is responsible for strengthening the outreach efforts between the Council and its members who specialize in, among other things, Grassroots, Political Action Committees, International, Federal and State Government Relations. Sylvia also oversees the recruitment, retention and member engagement programs for new member organizations, as well as ensuring that current members are aware of, and satisfied with, the Council's services. She is also responsible for writing and updating all communication materials pertaining to membership. Sylvia organized and oversaw the Public Affairs Council's first ever "Volunteer of the Year" award program including the nomination and selection process.
Prior to joining the Public Affairs Council Sylvia interned for the local publication D.C. Style. In her spare time Sylvia also writes for her award-winning blog, which was awarded "Best New Blog/Site" at Glam.com in 2006; "Best Lifestyle Award" at Trendora.com in 2007; and "Best Fashion Blog" in 2008 at Fabbies.org.
Orignally hailing from the United Kingdom, Sylvia earned her Masters in Media and Public Affairs from George Washington University in 2007, during which time she also served as the Vice President of Communications for the Black Graduate Student Association.
