PENNSYLVANIA LAW WATCH, INC.
Bunnies, ducks and sharks - oh my! Using a life size bunny rabbit to
brand their "Hoppin' Mad Campaign," PA Law Watch pushed the issue
of tort and medical malpractice reform at the statehouse. Later joined by
a shark (tag line "I support personal injury attorneys.") and a duck
(tag line "Don't duck the issue of lawsuit abuse."), legislators and the
general public had their pictures taken with the characters to show
support for the issue. Along with traditional efforts, this ensured passage
of significant tort reform legislation in 2002
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT
BELLSOUTH
BellSouth, along with web application developer Net Tango, developed
LEADER (Linking Employees And Developing external Relationships),
a complex web-based public affairs application integrated with company
information. This tool combines not only a grassroots application but
also characteristics of a sales force automation tool, a customer resource
management tool, an enterprise resource planning tool and an e-mail
list service.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT
WACHOVIA
SpeakOut Wachovia!, the organization's first foray into grassroots,
adopted many of the tried and true aspects of essential grassroots.
What made the effort innovative was it's timing and success. Given the
recent merger of First Union and Wachovia, a diverse employee base of
more than 80,000 with no legacy of grassroots and an unstable economic
environment, SpeakOut Wachovia was a thorough and well-received effort.
