Chevron Global Upstream & Gas is accepting online applications for the position of Advisor, Policy Government & Public Affairs - Asia Pacific located in San Ramon, CA through November 7, 2008.
Overview:
Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production (CAPEP) is the largest IOC and producer in the Asia Pacific region. CAPEP operates in and/or maintains investments in 9 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
Qualifications:
Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Policy, Government and Public Affairs Support
Work with PGPA Manager to:
Conduct substantive research, draft memos, and prepare briefings for the OpCo President;
Track expenditures to develop appropriate budgets for CAPEP PGPA;
Address a range of PGPA requests from the strategic business units in the Asia Pacific region;
Develop CAPEP PGPA communications materials; and
Develop and execute the PGPA Strategic Plan for CAPEP.
Support the PGPA Manager in:
Executing corporate initiatives, gathering information for corporate reports and providing information on the same to the strategic business units;
Maintaining regional conference, event and executive visit calendars;
Developing and executing internal and external communications plans for the OpCo; and,
Drafting power point presentations on CAPEP for a wide range of internal and external events.
Compile substantive briefing binders under the supervision of the PGPA Manager for the OpCo President and others, as requested.
Maintain the existing Stakeholder Engagement Matrix.
Develop and maintain a Stakeholder Engagement tracking tool for CAPEP PGPA.
Gather and maintain current information on and strategic business unit country descriptions and community engagement programs.
Attend conferences, policy meetings or other public events related to Asia Pacific to support the development of OpCo PGPA strategic plans.
Track government and social conditions and/or developments in the Asia Pacific region, through research and participation in key external events, as identified by the PGPA Manager.
Event Support:
Work with PGPA Manager to coordinate, organize and/or support visits and/or events from key internal or external stakeholders.
Provide staff support for conferences and/or events hosted by the OpCo President.
Maintain organized event files for planning and archive purposes.
Order gifts and/or other related supplies required for visits and/or events.
Prepare Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) requests for events, visits and/or corporate gifts, including gathering appropriate information and documentation, and maintain permanent FCPA files for CAPEP PGPA.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required in International Relations, Communications, or Public Relations.
Minimum of 5 years experience in a Policy, Government and/or Public Affairs.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with key external stakeholders.
Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization to convey ideas, motivate and demonstrate subject matter expertise.
Demonstrated understanding & application of strategic communications, including plan development & implementation.
Ability to manage a number of programs/projects simultaneously.
A team player who can lead by example with high accountability to his/her actions.
Strong writing and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Experience working in a significant government relations or public affairs capacity.
Working knowledge of or familiarity with the Asia Pacific region.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively, foster cooperation and teamwork with a diverse group of people.
Ability to rapidly adjust to changing conditions and priorities.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to define opportunities and develop solutions.
Previous experience in energy related corporate communications and/or government affairs.
