Director of Congressional Affairs; Director of Regulatory Affairs
ASPPA, a national organization of retirement plan professionals, based in Arlington, VA, currently has openings for the following positions:
Director of Congressional Affairs Position coordinates retirement policy initiatives and leads advocacy efforts for the association's priorities, including summarizing legislative activity for ASPPA membership, preparing advocacy materials and interacting with members of Congress and Congressional staff. Position also oversees Political Action Committee fundraising and grassroots efforts. Successful candidate will have a minimum of five years experience working with tax and labor committees with regard to retirement policy initiatives, be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage/mentor other professional staff, effective oral and written communication skills, and strong strategic thinking skills. Occasional travel is required. Salary commensurate with skills and experience; excellent benefits.
Director of Regulatory Affairs Position coordinates the association's interaction with federal regulators, including drafting regulatory updates and comment letters. Successful candidate will have a minimum of five years experience working with regulatory agencies with regard to qualified retirement plan guidance, strong working knowledge of ERISA, familiarity with the regulatory process, strong interpersonal skills, excellent research and writing capabilities, and effective oral communication skills. Previous experience in successfully developing regulatory comments through a committee process is a plus. Occasional travel is required.
