The American Immigration Lawyers Association is a non-profit organization established to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members.
The Government Relations team advocates for immigration-related legislative, regulatory, and policy reforms before Congress and the agencies, consistent with AILA’s principles and priorities.
Your Role …
Enhance the effectiveness of the Government Relations team by providing a high-level of administrative support to the department. Coordinate with our Online Content team to post work products and other documents on AILA website. Respond to telephone and written inquiries from members and other constituents. Assists with development and monitoring of member outreach on calls for cases, questions, and examples. Performing internet research, and track and log FOIA requests and responses.
Your Background …
Undergraduate degree is preferred. Two years of related experience, preferably within a nonprofit and/or government relations environment.
Position requires working knowledge and proficiency in MSOffice Suite (specifically MSWord, MS Excel, MS Outlook and PowerPoint); ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and/or in writing; ability to work both independently and as an active member of a team; ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality. The capacity to develop a working knowledge of organization and various programs; and provide timely response to requests for information, service and/or assistance is critical to this role.
