Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for coordination and management of Verizon’s employee and stakeholder engagement and grassroots programs at the federal level.  In this role, the incumbent will perform analysis and strategic planning for these programs.  The incumbent will also have responsibility for developing new fundraising opportunities for the federal Political Action Committee (PAC) and monitoring its progress.  In addition to managing federal PAC functions, this individual will also work in the coordination efforts of Verizon’s 18 state PACs.  This person must have a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations to insure compliance with various federal and state laws and regulations.  The incumbent will also be responsible for the management and direction of other political events for Verizon.  The individual will report to the Director of Government Relations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and direct federal grassroots campaigns and employee engagement aligned with the company’s business objectives
  • Implement strategy for federal priority issues and key political initiatives
  • Coordinate with state teams to align activities and calls to action with business goals
  • Work on federal and state communications associated with web content, outreach to employees and activity updates
  • Oversee collection of data and development of company asset sheets and mobile advocacy center websites for both the federal and state teams
  • Coordinate site visits with elected officials at Verizon facilities across the country
  • Project management and development of future PAC solicitation campaigns
  • Provide coordination and management of records and reports in the PAC database
  • Compile and analyze financial and PAC progress reports which will include coordination and preparation of strategic presentations, including quarterly reports and semi-annual operations reviews
  • Organize and execute a timely process in the Federal PAC check disbursals totaling approximately $1 million dollars annually
  • Oversee and manage the processing of new PAC donor information and ensure proper follow up and communications with the payroll department
  • Prepare and manage the design and development of the content of the PAC website and communication materials
  • Plan and execute other political events for Verizon such as meet and greet events with candidates and elected officials and national political convention events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Four or more years of relevant experience
  • Two or more years of relevant experience either on the Hill or in fundraising, politics and/or PAC administration
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proven project management, ability to identify, prioritize, delegate and conduct appropriate follow up on all variations of projects
  • Strong working knowledge of PAC compliance and FEC regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in planning and managing presentations and meetings
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • High level of attention to detail
  • Experience in public speaking and making presentations to large groups
