The Head of Global Cardiovascular Public Affairs executes the global TA-specific Public Affairs strategy, plan, programs and initiatives, engaging with the right governmental and non-governmental external stakeholders and influencers, to support the relevant Franchise in their shaping the environment and to support the largest possible number of patients to access our products and treatments and develops TA-specific external relationships with top echelon governmental and non-governmental thought leaders
The Head of Global Cardiovascular Public Affairs:
ØIs the Public Affairs (PA) business partner to the Head of the Global CV Franchise.
ØIs Member of the Franchise Head Leadership Team.
ØThe main mission is to develop and implement a robust PA strategy to support business goals for that Franchise both in the corporate positioning of the Franchise (in cardiovascular diseases) and in supporting the business objectives (Praluent).
ØHas an in-depth understanding of global Franchise/TA strategies, priorities and issues as well as key country market environments that affect performance and growth through close collaboration with the respective Regional Public Affairs Leads, Market Access, Commercial and Medical Teams
ØManages and provides hands-on support to Regional/Country PA Leads to develop and execute well-defined Global Franchise/TA-specific PA plans that are executable at the country levels. This includes the customization of these plans by Regional/Country PA Leads based on local market dynamics and business priorities, resulting in high-priority local initiatives, local collaborations and innovative programs for market impact and growth.
ØMaps and builds strong, compliant and trustful TA-specific relationships throughout Sanofi with the public affairs and patient and external stakeholder communities we serve by:
ØDeveloping TA-specific external relationship with top echelon government and non-governmental thought leaders
ØSupporting Regional/Country PA Leads to build close relationships and partnerships with the most critical non-governmental stakeholders in their respective countries.
ØLeads on this strategy and pulls other External Affairs (EA) functions and franchise cross functional leadership teams onboard.
ØIdentify the market access barriers at the time of launch and start working a few years before to define a public affairs strategy that will allow the right engagement with all key stakeholders to shape the environment in the best possible way to secure patient’s access to treatment.
ØWork with regional public affairs and government affairs(US and France) to understand and adapt the existing policy around the treatment of that disease
ØWork with medical & scientific societies to understand the current standard of treatment and the needs of the medical community to bring a solution to patients.
ØWork with the patient community to understand the challenges they have when living with that condition and their request for more impactful treatments.
ØWork with communications to start bringing the right messages into this process and help them raise awareness on the burden of that disease and bring to the political agenda the unmet need that society still has in that particular disease.
ØResponsible for the creation and measurement of an impactful global CV PA integrated strategy
ØGain in-depth understanding of specific Franchise strategies, priorities and issues that affect performance and growth.
ØAnticipate PA trends and competitive dynamics that represent Franchise opportunities or threats. Monitors and analyses threats, trends and opportunities for the business from external developments and effectively communicates them to the Franchise leadership.
ØPartner with and conduct proactive planning, interactions and communications with key internal functions including market access, medical, communications, commercial and Key regional and country representatives in the CV Franchise
ØWork together with Regional leads to gain input on internal needs and external stakeholders to refine plans and execution while securing a proper implementation of the global strategy in countries around the world through local execution.
ØProactively measures and tracks performance of PA plans across markets, and monitors Regional PA Leads who are accountable to develop, track and report metrics that assess the impact of their local plans.
ØDrives consistent engagement with external PA stakeholders throughout country markets with compliance and transparency. Shares and adopts stakeholder management best practices with Regional and Country PA Leads to enhance our company reputation and represent One Sanofi to our partners.
ØStaff and brief the Head of the Global CV Franchise in all external affairs issues that he/she needs to know to properly operate and lead the commercial operations.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited four-year College or university; e.g. political sciences, law, economics, medicine, pharmacy).
- Post-graduate degree in public health or health care related field /Doctorate degree (e.g., M.D., PhD, PharmD, RN or equivalent)
- Years of experience: 10 years: in public affairs, government affairs, market-shaping strategies, advocacy campaigns, or advanced responsibilities in an industry (or advocacy global institution) public affairs role.
- Scientific background and public affairs or advocacy campaigning experience will be a plus.
- Languages: Fluent English (oral & written)
This person has to have a good understanding of stakeholder engagement techniques, government affairs, market access and policymaking process. Insights on pharma or health care business. Interpersonal relations, networking, swift comprehension of new topics, writing and self-organisation skills all play an important role. We are looking for someone with a strategic mind set, a good listener and quick learner, politically-savvy, interested in engaging with a large variety of stakeholders, a good team player
