I: Job Summary
 

This position will manage the day-to-day activities of the Emergent Employee Political Action Committee.  As a member of the Government Affairs team, the position will work with the SVP Government Affairs and Sr. Director Government Affairs to implement legislative priorities.  This position will also help develop Company positions consistent with Emergent’s business objectives and values. This position will be an asset to the Government Affairs team and play an import role in the team achieving corporate objectives.

 

II: Responsibilities
 

  1. Develop and implement PAC strategic planning process and budgeting.
  2. Manage a PAC board and officers as well as structure, policies and development opportunities.
  3. Develop and implement ongoing fundraising and communications plans to expand size and support of the PAC program.
  4. Routinely educate and inform members about the issues facing the organization.
  5. Maintain PAC bylaws, review and update as necessary.
  6. Author a weekly Legislative update for the Corporate Affairs team, CEO team, and BOD.
  7. Identify targets who share Emergent’s goals and mission as well as hold key positions in areas of jurisdiction important to corporate objectives.
  8. Monitor compliance of campaign finance laws including managing campaign finance attorney and ensuring Federal Election Commission compliance.
  9. Collect information from Emergent’s divisions, groups, and functional departments in order to be prepared to respond to challenges and also to pursue opportunities.
  10. Develop and maintain relationships within the Washington DC fundraising community.
  11. Assist Government Affairs team with duties as needed.

III: Education, Experience & Skills
 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in international relations, public policy or political science.
  • 3 – 5 years Political Action Committee or political fundraising experience
  • 3 – 5 years experience in government relations, Capitol Hill or political campaign activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the organization.
  • Self-motivated, independent self-starter.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects including action items, timelines, and budgets.

 

IV: Physical/Mental Requirements
Type/keyboard. Use phone, fax, copier, and computer. Organize/coordinate, analyze/interpret, problem solve, make decisions, plan, communicate, prepare written communications. Work in multiple locations.  Some travel may be required.
