About the role:
As a Manager on our Political Operations and Media and Strategy team, you will execute strategies on behalf of DDC’s clients that ensure the effectiveness of national, state and local public affairs campaigns.   Reporting to the Vice President, and working within the Political Operations and Media Strategy team, but also alongside our client relations teams, the manager will be responsible for working with clients, DDC colleagues and field teams throughout the country to develop, manage and execute successful national, state and local public affairs campaigns on behalf of companies, trade associations, non-profits and other organizations with a range of business, political and other interests.  These campaigns will consist of grassroots, grass tops, earned media and coalition building strategies to accomplish client goals both in the states and inside the beltway.
What you’ll be doing:
  • Manages and executes a broad range of day-to-day public affairs activities, including pitching media, writing/approval of press materials, content development
  • Establishes and manages relationships with media, develops compelling proactive pitches related to clients’ needs
  • Drafts OPEDs, letters-to-the-editors and blog posts
  • Manage aspects of grass tops, grassroots, earned media and coalition building public affairs campaigns – including management of local field teams
  • Works with multiple client engagements simultaneously
  • Analyzes and measures results of public affairs and communications initiatives including daily, weekly, month and annual reports based on client needs.
About you:
  • You’ll have 3+ years of experience working on public affairs campaigns, in a public affairs agency, capitol hill office or congressional campaign, white house or executive branch, state house, or within a media / journalistic outlet
  • In-depth understanding of politics and grassroots and the media operate
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with both internal and external clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure in a self-directed manner
  • Strong work ethic and capability to thrive in a campaign style work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and see them through to completion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
