Government Programs & Services (GPS) is the division within MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc. that focuses on Medicaid, Medicare and other publicly sponsored healthcare programs. This position reports to the Manager of Medicaid Legislative Affairs and will primarily provide programmatic research, legislative/regulatory analysis and data support to the GPS department.
1. Coordinate legislative tracking efforts in existing MedImpact markets and strategic states
2. Monitor and analyze state/federal budgets and legislation for fiscal and operational impact to MedImpact and its client partners
3. Provide programmatic/regulatory research support and analysis to assist MedImpact staff in better understanding publicly sponsored health care programs
4. Provide research and data support to the GPS department, Request-For-Proposals (RFP) and/or other business development efforts
5. Develop clearly written analyses and easy to understand interpretations of legislation, regulations and/or publicly sponsored healthcare programs
6. Assist with maintenance of the GPS Medicaid & Medicare Knowledge Center (virtual information repository on publicly sponsored programs)
7. Must possess superior communication, organization skills and ability to articulate complex issues in an understandable manner
8. Must be able to work with minimal supervision (independently or in a team environment) and be able to influence others to ensure timely and accurate response to legislative requirements
9. Effectively demonstrate ability to perform and/or support multiple, concurrent program activities, and business strategic initiatives
10. Work on special projects, as needed, to help carry out company's mission and strategic goals and objectives.
Applicant must possess a minimum of 3 years of legislative analysis experience
Demonstrable familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare and/or other publicly funded health care programs required
Experience in PBM, pharmaceutical or managed health care industry a plus
Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy or Healthcare required.
Strong analytical skills and demonstrated record of accomplishment in advancing organizational business and/or policy interests
Able to multi-task, prioritize as appropriate and work in fast-paced quick turnaround environment
Excellent communication (written and verbal), public speaking and presentation skills
Experience in interfacing with executives and senior management
Able to work independently with a high degree of efficiency with little supervisory oversight
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsfot Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Visio with an ability to grasp new programs quickly.
