Job Summary

L’Oréal USA Corporate Communications team is looking for a highly motivated and organized communications intern to support the Public Affairs & Strategic Initiatives team in the development, coordination and administration of various corporate public affairs and philanthropy initiatives. This role gains broad exposure to the entire company and is ideal for someone interested in both public affairs and philanthropy. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required for this opportunity.

 

12 -Month Internship Program: 

L’Oréal USA has a unique program for recent graduates. It is a full-time paid internship for up to 12 months where you are a fully contributing member of our Corporate Communications team here at L’Oréal. To qualify for the program, you must be a recent graduate (within 12 months) from a four-year college.

 

 Role & Responsibilities 

 Public Affairs

  • Monitor and track industry news and related legislative developments and produce daily media and social monitoring reports
  • Conduct issues-based research and develop informational materials including memos, issue briefs and policy analysis for internal stakeholders
  • Support federal, state and local legislative and policy efforts, including maintaining stakeholder lists, drafting legislative correspondence and maintaining other external collateral materials, like corporate fact sheets and government affairs resource guide 

 

Strategic Initiatives/Philanthropy

  • Support organization, administration, and implementation of L’Oréal USA’s “For Women in Science” philanthropy program including assistance with fellowship application process, alumni communications, list management, event planning, STEM research, stakeholder engagement, and digital content
  • Author response letters to philanthropic requests and manage corporate product donations

 

Miscellaneous

  • Provide general administrative support to the Public Affairs & Strategic Initiatives team as needed including scheduling, travel and expense reports
  • Provide ad-hoc research, data collection, information synthesis, meeting support and analysis drafting, e.g. PowerPoint briefing decks and research memos

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Candidates must have received a Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months OR must have graduated with a Master’s degree within the last 12 months with no gap more than 5 months in education history.
  • Previous experience within Congress, the White House, Campaign or Public Affairs consulting firm preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Strong writing, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work as a supportive team member
  • Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced and results-driven environment
  • Social media savvy; engaged user with strong working knowledge of basic social platforms
  • Candidates will be required to provide a writing sample
