The Senior Policy
Analyst will work in partnership with the Director of Government Relations and
the Policy Analyst to develop and implement ZERO TO THREE's federal policy
positions and strategy on a range of issues; represent ZERO TO THREE in
meetings with federal policymakers and their staff and coalition partners; develop
a variety of written materials; track relevant federal legislation; organize
hill briefings and other events; and contribute to the overall work of the
Policy Center.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities
Work with Director of Government
Relations to develop and implement ZERO TO THREE's federal policy agenda
and various strategies for moving that agenda
Represent ZERO TO THREE in meetings
with hill and Administration staff
Work with the Director of
Government Relations to provide technical assistance to federal
policymakers and staff
Represent ZERO TO THREE at select
coalition meetings
Cultivate relationships with
federal policy staff, researchers, other experts, and coalition partners
Draft federal policy briefs, testimony,
report language, and other written materials
Oversee the federal project
request process
Track relevant federal
legislation, activities of federal agencies, and projects and initiatives
of other national organizations
Organize hill briefings and other
events with assistance from the Federal Policy Analyst
Work with Communications staff
and the rest of policy team to prepare responses to time sensitive media
opportunities and write content for the Policy Center
website
Garner visibility for ZERO TO
THREE and infant and toddler policy issues through presentations at
conferences and meetings
Contribute to grant proposals and
reports to funders
Contribute to the overall work of
the Policy Center
Skills and Experience
Knowledge of the federal
legislative process and early childhood policy issues
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant
work experience
Excellent oral and written
communication skills
Dependability and experience
working in a team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational and time
management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing and urgent
responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to solve practical
problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Ability to travel, including
occasional overnight stays
Education
Master's
degree in public policy, social work, early childhood or a related field, or a law
degree
