Purpose of Position:

To provide tactical support to Raise Your Hand Texas focusing on targeted membership drives and to help identify possible RYHT members, educate communities about the RYHT mission, and recruit members who will advocate in the Texas legislature to support positive changes in public education. This position is grassroots based but will also provide support to other RYHT staff.

Essential Functions:

· Design and implement strategies to identify, recruit, and mobilize activists in support of positions and policies that positively affect public education and the over 4.5 million students in Texas.

· Help build a state-wide advocacy network.

· Deliver talks on the importance of supporting public education at schools, community meetings, and other public events.

· Contribute written articles on activities to the RYHT e-newsletter, e-blasts, and website. Assist with editing materials for publication when necessary.

· Assist with the RYHT Harvard School Leaders Program by answering inquiries, providing follow up, and planning the reunion conference.

· Research education topics, including public/private school comparisons, statistics, student achievement, and philanthropy.

· Administration functions.

· Other duties as assigned.
