ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
We seek a Vice President of Public Affairs, Technology and Telecommunications for the Public Affairs practice of FD, FTI's Strategic Communications segment. FD Public Affairs, formerly FD Dittus Communications, has provided public affairs and strategic communications services to clients for more than 15 years. Based in Washington, D.C., with offices throughout the Americas, FD has a long track record of success on some of the most controversial public policy issues facing the business community.
The Vice President, Technology and Telecommunications practice will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing strategic public relations and public affairs programs for technology and telecommunications clients. The Vice President will report to a Senior Vice President and the General Manager.
The Vice President must have a demonstrated record of achievement in public affairs, be knowledgeable about the legislative and regulatory issues facing the technology industry, have experience dealing with the news media, managing clients, writing new business proposals andwinning new business.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Develop and Manage Multidisciplinary PR Campaigns. The Vice President will be responsible for developing and managing multi-disciplinary PR campaigns. In this role, the Vice President will be responsible for developing strategic communications plans, providing overall strategic direction to account teams, and managing the implementation of strategic public relations programs.
Client Management. The Vice President will serve as the primary point of contact for the client and be responsible for ensuring that services are delivered to the client on time and on budget. The Vice President will establish measurable goals for clients and report the results to clients on an ongoing basis.
Account
Team Management.
The Vice President will manage account teams. The Vice President will be
responsible for ensuring that account staff designated to speak with the media,
manage coalition activities or conduct third-party outreach are capable of
managing an interview and are adequately briefed and trained to communicate key
messages.
Media Relations and Placement. The Vice President will work with both clients and account teams to identify and create newsworthy information/events and ensure their coverage in major newspapers and trade publications. The Vice President will guide the client and account team in developing story ideas, working with reporters, providing information to the media and representing clients to the media.
Budgeting Accountability. The Vice President will have primary responsibility for developing, managing and overseeing client budgets and expenses and maintaining adequate profit margins for the firm. The Vice President will have primary responsibility for ensuring that FD is providing the appropriate level of client service.
Events Management. The Vice President will manage the overall production and implementation of press conferences, congressional briefings, media tours, and other media and third-party events.
Third-Party Outreach. The Vice President will manage the development of third-party supporters and be primarily responsible for generating grassroots support.
Materials Production. The Vice President will be responsible for managing the production of video news releases, audio news releases, b-roll, advertising, etc.
Research. The Vice President will be responsible for managing quantitative and qualitative research projects for clients.
Client Development. The Vice President will assist the Senior Vice President and senior management team in developing new client contacts and business opportunities as well as increasing existing client budgets. The Vice President will draft proposals recommending strategies for business development for both current and potential clients.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to develop and manage multi-disciplinary campaigns utilizing media, grassroots, advertising, research and marketing communications.
Ability to manage, lead and motivate professional and administrative staff.
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to write effective new business proposals.
Experience in major decision making and problem solving.
Experience reaching media, public policy and consumer audiences.
Ability to analyze the impact of legislative and regulatory policies on clients and prospective clients.
Ability to
network for new issues and new leads with prospective and existing clients.
