As Vice President of the Public Affairs Council, Chris Bender oversees the Council’s executive education programs, member services, and research on management practices and emerging issues. He leads the development of customized training and benchmarking services and expanding the Council’s networks for international, political involvement, corporate social responsibility and association public affairs professionals.
Before joining the Council, Chris was vice president for the communications agency Adfero. His nearly 20 years of experience in government affairs and communications also includes heading up North American public affairs for the global biotech company Novozymes North America, serving as deputy press secretary and speechwriter for Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, and serving as director of communications for the deputy mayor of Washington, D.C. He also has worked in the education and affordable housing fields.
He is a member of the National Press Club and an adjunct professor at George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management, where he teaches courses on corporate public affairs and issues management.
He received his MA in political management from GWU after receiving his BA in English from the University of California.
