Stephanie (Mulica) Helsing is the Membership Manager for the Public Affairs Council, where she assists with all recruitment, retention and membership communication efforts.
Prior to joining the Council in January 2019, she spent 6 years as the Director of Membership Development for the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce. At the GSSCC she was responsible for membership recruitment & retention; assisting new members with on-boarding; working with a Membership Development Committee to set up a vibrant retention program and member benefits. She also initiated the formation of and was the staff liaison for the GSSCC Non-Profit Team. She worked with hundreds of local businesses and actively helped to support them through robust Chamber programming and was seen as an important connector and problem solver.
Being a 21 year resident of Silver Spring along with her work in the community prior to the GSSCC, including MCPS Northwood Cluster Co-coordinator responsible for Operations Budget testimony, multiple years spent as both PTA and PTSA President and Social Committee Chair for the Indian Spring Community Association, as well as being a Certified Assistant Boy Scout Leader, gave Stephanie a wide network of connections that easily supported her role in the Chamber.
Stephanie received her BSSP Summa Cum Laude, as well as a Certificate in Secondary Education, from Emerson College in Boston and her Masters Summa Cum Laude, in Political Science, with an International Relations focus, from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in Cairo, Egypt where she spent 4 years attending University; working for the AUC Desert Development Center and the Arab Office for Youth and Environment, as well as extensively traveling the region.
