Agenda

1:00 p.m.        Developing, Collecting, and Telling Your Organization’s Story

Every company, industry, profession or cause must be able to effectively tell their story to policymakers and concerned citizens. Humanizing a policy issue or explaining “the why” can be a difficult exercise. Join us for a session on:

  • Understanding the power of stories and how to explain your organization’s “why”
  • Crafting a public policy message that resonates beyond the beltway
  • Developing a story arc and identifying key message for different target audiences
  • Collecting stories from potential advocates and supporters

Thousands of organizations bring advocates to meet with policymakers each year, but is your organization cutting through the noise? While organizations spend significant time training their advocates on policy issues, delivering compelling stories is rarely highlighted in the agenda. During this session you will learn how to:

  • Train advocates to develop, craft and deliver a compelling advocacy story
  • Utilize tactics like role-playing exercises to make your advocates feel more comfortable and to empower them to share their personal story
  • Drive an advocacy campaign through a powerful story
