10:00 a.m.         Developing, Collecting and Telling Your Organization’s Story

Every company, industry, profession or cause must be able to effectively tell their story to policymakers and concerned citizens. Humanizing a policy issue or explaining “the why” can be a difficult exercise. Join us for a session on:

  • Understanding the power of stories and how to explain your organization’s “why”
  • Crafting a public policy message that resonates beyond the beltway
  • Developing a story arc and identifying key message for different target audiences
  • Collecting stories from potential advocates and supporters

11:15 p.m.        Using Storytelling to Standout

Thousands of organizations bring advocates to meet with policymakers each year. Are your messages cutting through the noise? Compelling stories can make your organization memorable when your advocates and lobbyists present your issue to lawmakers. During this session you will learn how to:

  • Train advocates to develop, craft and deliver a compelling advocacy story – even when the meeting is online
  • Utilize tactics, such as role-playing exercises, to make your advocates feel more comfortable and empower them to share their personal stories
  • Develop a powerful advocacy story your government affairs team can put to work
