Congress may pass a law, but regulators give the law its teeth. Learn and hone tested strategies and tactics for influencing federal regulation and rulemaking in a way that drives forward the goals of your organization. We’ll also cover how the COVID-19 crisis has impacted regulations.

9:30-10:30- Understanding the Federal Regulatory Landscape

Whether you are just getting started or looking to expand your regulatory advocacy efforts, this session will give you the overview and building blocks you need. Our experts will cover:

  • Understanding and tracking the federal rulemaking landscape
  • How influential agencies work
  • Key distinctions between the legislative and regulatory processes and how they impact your public affairs approach
  • Major regulatory trends to prepare you for 2021

10:45-11:45- Influencing Federal Regulation

Increasingly, understanding how to use the regulatory process to accomplish your policy goals is mission critical. In this session our experts will cover:

  • Steps to build a strong regulatory advocacy function
  • Best practices for coordinating regulatory advocacy with broader efforts, such as lobbying and grassroots
  • Ways to increase impact, such as key groups to join
  • Case studies of success regulatory advocacy success

11:45-12:00- Break

12:00-12:30- Creating Metrics and Value

  • Methods for monitoring, prioritizing, and communicating internally about regulation before it affects your company’s bottom line
  • Metrics for showcasing the regulatory function’s value to the rest of your organization
