10 a.m.−12:15 p.m. ET
Washington, DC or Virtual

Looking for additional resources? Trying to justify line items in your government relations budget? Join us for this in-depth, two-hour workshop designed to give you the tools you need to better measure the value that government relations brings to your organization. Plus, you’ll learn successful strategies for communicating that value to internal stakeholders.

This program is eligible for 2 core credits toward the Certificate in Public Affairs Management.

As a CAE Approved Provider educational program related to the CAE exam content outline, this program may be applied for 2 credits toward your CAE application or renewal professional development requirements.

10 a.m. Metrics that Show Government Relations Value

Wins, losses, relationships, advocate engagement, media coverage and examples of being a “go-to” resource for a legislative official. These are all metrics that government relations professionals use to track their value.

And dashboards, charts, internal and external surveys, and progress against goals are just some of the tools that are used to interpret the overall success — or failure — of your government relations efforts.

This session will help you bridge the gap between those two lists and share best practices for using:

  • Metrics that go beyond legislative wins and losses and demonstrating value to other functions
  • Data points that show how your efforts protected the organization or added to the bottom line
  • Expectation management and alignment strategies to ensure everyone is on the same page
  • Measurement tools that produce the data that is most valuable to internal stakeholders and is delivered in the language they understand

We’ll close the program by hearing from a panel of federal and state government relations professionals who will share their hard-earned experience on what works and what doesn’t when demonstrating the value of government relations to business lines. They’ll share their favorite tools and tips for making the case that they’re getting the job done — especially amid ever-changing political winds.
