Running a successful PAC is like running a small business. Beyond day-to-day demands, PAC professionals juggle fundraising, donor outreach, communication, political strategy, and governance structures. Whether you’re a seasoned manager looking for a refresh of the fundamentals or new to the industry and seeking the lay of the land, learn the key components of successful PAC management.

If you take part in the full course, this program is eligible for 2 PAC credits toward the Certificate in PAC & Grassroots Management and 2 core credits toward the Certificate in Public Affairs Management. As a CAE Approved Provider educational program related to the CAE exam content outline, this program may be applied for 3 credits toward your CAE application or renewal professional development requirements.

Agenda

Module 1: The Essentials: PAC Management and Governance

To be successful, a PAC program must have a solid foundation of governance and management. This module will cover the essentials of compliance and reporting, checks and balances to maintain compliant solicitation practices, and tips for structuring your PAC board for success.

Learning objectives:

  • Compliance and reporting best practices
  • Key elements of building to a recruitment plan, including who to solicit, who can solicit and what constitutes a solicitation
  • Effective tactics for managing PAC boards and governance structures

Module 2: Education and Recruitment Strategies

Educating your restricted class on the role of the PAC and how it contributes to organization-wide advocacy goals is a key tenet of any recruitment campaign. During this module, learn effective education and fundraising strategies to incorporate into your PAC program today.

Learning objectives:

  • Gain fundamental PAC education messaging and talking points for donor communications
  • Best practices for targeting the eligible class and securing senior leadership support
  • Strategies to incentivize long-term PAC engagement

Module 3: PAC Disbursement Practices

This third and final module will deliver a comprehensive overview of effective PAC disbursement and candidate support strategies.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain a better understanding of contribution levels, types of events, and strategies to effectively engage campaign fundraisers
  • Best practices for selecting candidates and identifying opportunities to provide political support
  • Leveraging the PAC to build relationships with candidates and elected officials to enhance broader advocacy efforts
