September 29, 2020
9 a.m.−12 p.m. ET
Washington, DC or Virtual

It’s easy to feel like your PAC solicitations recycle the same language. Are you looking to write and talk about your PAC in a new and exciting way? We’ll help you find the language that resonates with potential donors. Join us for a solicitation workshop that will explore what messages to share, how to write a compelling solicitation email or letter and strategies for planning successful campaigns.

This program is eligible for 2 pac credits toward the Certificate in PAC & Grassroots Management.

9 a.m.               Successful PAC Solicitations: Nuts and Bolts

Whether it is giving a PAC presentation to your board of directors, training your PAC champions to solicit their peers, or launching an annual PAC drive, running effective solicitation campaigns takes both the right messaging and execution. We’ll provide the components of a comprehensive solicitation campaign, including setting goals, identifying targets and exciting your audience.

Our first session will cover:

  • Planning and executing a comprehensive solicitation schedule and campaign
  • Best practices for written PAC solicitations, including tips to refresh your messaging and adapt to changing or uncertain times
  • Timelines and mediums for a successful solicitation

9:45 a.m.         Group Session: Solicitation Writing Exercise

Whether it’s for a solicitation letter, talking points for your peer solicitors or a video script, we all struggle with new language to promote our PACs. In this interactive session, breakout groups will dissect a standard solicitation letter to improve the message and make it more engaging. A facilitator will provide expert tips on achieving more compelling messaging when communicating on the value of the PAC.

11 a.m.              PAC Fundraising During a Pandemic

When creating our PAC plans for 2020, it’s unlikely anyone imagined grappling with the uncertainties of a global pandemic. While most PACs paused or delayed planned solicitation campaigns, many are finding it’s necessary to resume communications and fundraising efforts in the near term. This session will feature case studies from organizations on how they’re restructuring their efforts, messaging and expectations amid the COVID-19 pandemic and economic uncertainty.

Our speakers will cover:

  • Examples of resuming PAC solicitations and striking the right balance in tone and goals
  • Ideas for virtual events and solicitation activities in place of in-person conferences and gatherings
  • Non-political communications to keep your PAC community engaged
