This program is eligible for 2 Grassroots credits toward the Certificate in PAC & Grassroots Management and 2 Elective credits toward the Certificate in Public Affairs Management.

Agenda

9:00 a.m.     Identifying, Incentivizing and Training Your Most Important Advocates

Even just one engaged and knowledgeable advocate can accomplish more for your advocacy program than many non-committed participants. Recruiting these advocates is your first step, but training and motivating them is the key to longterm success.

In this session you will:

  • Learn to develop a system for measuring involvement to identify existing and potential leaders
  • Understand the strategies for creating a program in which grasstops leaders can grow, taking on new responsibilities and challenges as they gain confidence, knowledge and experience
  • Hear from experts on how they have trained their ambassadors to convey a consistent message effectively when interacting with media or lawmakers
  • Get tips and tricks for motivating key advocates through changing policy goals and unforeseen challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic
