Your contribution!

The Specialist, Community & Government Relations will be a part of the Government Relations and the Community Relations teams and will work closely with the project development, construction and operations business units to support and ensure that Innergex’s portfolio of projects are supported and set up for success, with a focus on your assigned region/projects.

Your day-to-day!

  • Work with Project Teams to develop and lead the execution of Community Engagement Strategies;
  • Manage consultation activities with local communities, state/local governments and key stakeholders;
  • Coordinate with Development, Construction and Operations teams, manage day-to-day contact with key stakeholders and project partners;
  • Assist in consultation and engagement with all levels of government;
  • Attend local organization meetings;
  • Liaise between Innergex and the general business community, labor groups and ENGOs, building positive and mutually beneficial relationships;
  • Support Government Relations Team with State and Federal government relationship building, as required;
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulations, standards. ethics and best management practices pertaining to government interaction and community relations;
  • Work with the broader consultative teams to ensure the company is meeting all of its contractual and legal obligations with communities;
  • Represent the company at community events;
  • Utilize local political contacts and relationships to affect change;
  • Coordinate with Communications for press activity.

Your skills, our requirements!

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Political Science, Communications or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 10 years in a relevant field;
  • Experience with local government process and structure;
  • Experience with communities of interest, local government politics, local culture and communities, and the business community within the region;
  • Experience with communities of interest, local government politics, local culture and communities, and the business community in other states is an asset;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint);
  • Proficient in English, both oral and written, French and/or Spanish is an asset.

Additional considerations!

  • The position could be based in Ohio, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland or New York;
  • This position requires 50% travel to project communities;
  • You need to have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
