The Role:

The Advocacy and Community Manager will spearhead an entirely new organizational initiative that is a critical part of the Decision Education movement. They will be responsible for developing, building, and launching a community of volunteer advocates who are committed to helping the Alliance achieve its mission. This individual will also oversee the recruiting, training, and engaging of members within this community. The ideal candidate will have experience working with external partners and building communities from scratch. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy start-up environments and are passionate about improving the future of the next generation.

The Advocacy and Community Manager will report to the Director of Community and Partnerships (“CAP”) as a part of the growing CAP department, which is responsible for growing and energizing a network of aligned individuals and organizations. This position may be a ‘Senior Manager’ depending on a candidate’s qualifications and experience.

We expect this individual to adhere to the Alliance’s hybrid work schedule, working both remotely and from our office in Bala Cynwyd, PA. In special circumstances, we will consider full-time remote work for candidates who are not local to our office. Fully remote candidates will be expected to travel into the office occasionally.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Organize a community of grassroots advocates, which includes creating and overseeing all strategic initiatives, campaigns, and goals for the community
  • Identify and evaluate all potential members
  • Recruit and onboard all new members
  • Manage all communications with potential members and current members
  • Prepare for and host community meetings
  • Manage metrics and establish systems associated with the community
  • Collaborate with other departments on organizational events and partnerships
  • May support other Councils and Communities by helping to manage individual relationships for the Executive Director and/or Director of CAP
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Experience
    • 5+ years of community building and/or community engagement experience
    • 3+ years of program and/or project management experience
    • Experience working for causes and/or movements
    • Experience with awareness campaigns or similar
    • Experience with Airtable or similar CRM tools such as Salesforce or Zoho
    • Experience in relationship management is preferred but not required.
    • Experience in or with non-profit organizations is preferred but not required.
