Position Information

***This position will be located at the Northern Avenue, Phoenix Office ***

The Analyst I/II/Public Affairs is responsible for supporting the coordination and implementation of all public affairs activities that could have an impact on the Corporation at the local, state, and federal level. This position performs a wide variety of professional public affairs services and assists with advancing business strategies. This position is responsible for facilitating program changes in support of the Company’s strategic plans. This position must maintain a positive corporate image in the community by developing and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, collaborating with management to meet the needs of the Company and community, and serving as a resource within the Company and the community while advocating on behalf of Southwest Gas and the natural gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support of the administration of all public affairs programs and issues that affect Company operations
  • Represent the Corporation’s interest and position
  • Assist in the development of recommendations to address community outreach and partnerships that allow Southwest Gas to proactively meet the needs of communities, customers and employees
  • Represent the Corporation’s interest and position in all local, state, and federal matters
  • Manage the employee giving program database and related technology tools to maximize the effectiveness of the employee giving program
  • Provide support between the Company and community organizations
  • Assist in the development and administration of the Company’s public affairs outreach and collateral materials for both internal and external communications
  • Provide support on the development of public affairs strategy and positions on issues that affect the Company
  • Interact within the corporate community on issues of mutual concern
  • Support and assist with the implementation of consumer/community programs and activities consistent with Company business strategies
  • Support company-sponsored committees and programs with the goal of maintaining and promoting corporate citizenship
  • Provide support to develop, motivate, train and evaluate staff
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

Analyst II

 

• Provide research and analytical support of the administration of all public affairs issues that affect Company operations
• Support the representation and advocacy of the Corporation before all local, state, and federal officials, both elected and appointed to ensure equitable deliberations on public affairs issues that affect Company operations
• Support the representation and advocacy of the Corporation’s interest and position in all local, state, and federal matters
• Assist in the establishment and support of Public Affairs programs to enhance the Company’s relationships with all local, state and federal government officials and agencies
• Assist in the development and revision of responses to all governmental and public affairs inquiries directed at the Corporation
• Monitor filings, enactments, rulemakings, public decisions and other actions of regulatory commissions, federal, state, and local government agencies relating to all public affairs programs
• Assist in the development of recommendations to address consumer programs, supplier diversity programs and other related areas for Company involvement in the community
• Assist in the design, development and administration of the Company’s public affairs, Outreach and collateral materials
• Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires up to two years of relevant work experience plus a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job responsibilities.

 

A clear understanding of the political process is critical to this position. Contacts throughout government are imperative for the incumbent’s successful performance.

 

Salary Details

Analyst I – $54,590 – $68,237
Analyst II – $69,621 – $87,026
