We are looking for an Analyst, Regulatory who will join our R&D team. The team is located in Columbus, OH.

This position is responsible for obtaining and maintaining federal/state/territory  registrations of Scotts products. This individual will develop registration strategies in order to meet the timing needs of the business with minimal oversight.  This individual continues to develop internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Participates in team meetings and supports new product launches or product changes

  • Prepares and submits product applications and/or registrations along with required maintenance activities (new registrations, amendments, notifications, etc.) with minimal oversight

  • Reviews and approves labels and labeling in accordance with applicable laws and regulations

  • Responds to requests and other correspondence from regulatory agencies with minimal oversight

  • Develops regulatory strategies intended to support execution of the business plan with minimal oversight

  • Keeps current on regulatory requirements through self study/attendance at conferences/training seminars

  • Interacts and negotiates with appropriate regulatory authorities on registrations and issues relevant to the business with minimal oversight

  • Monitors government regulatory activities and begins to build influencer network by representing Scotts at meetings and conferences with appropriate external organizations

  •  Independent problem solving, learning negotiation skills, and proactive issue management.

  • Develop and execute regulatory strategy to support new product launch.

  • Moderate to high original thinking required to leverage and effectively communicate knowledge of regulations to gain stakeholder alignment and execute strategy.

  • Approval of internal workflows and labels.   Develop project plans with internal stakeholder.  Negotiate routine registration issues on behalf of company.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent professional experience in relevant science, government affairs, or technical disciplines.  Masters or higher preferred.

  • 3 or more years relevant work experience.   Related disciplines may include government affairs, formulations, environmental science, product development, various plant sciences, toxicology, etc.

  • Solid knowledge of state and/or federal government regulations.

  • Solid knowledge of time and/or project management principles.

  • Solid understanding of Scotts company product categories a plus.

  • Awareness of other relevant chemical regulations (e.g. OSHA, VOC, Prop 65).

Rationale for Position:

Most Scotts products must be registered with federal and/or state regulatory authorities prior to distribution, sale and use.  In addition, many of Scotts’ facilities must obtain and maintain licenses to conduct business in certain jurisdictions.  This position supports the registration and licensing activities necessary to distribute and sell products.
