Assistant Vice President, women.nyc

Position Overview: The Initiatives Department at NYCEDC seeks to understand the rapidly-changing landscape of NYC’s key economic sectors and to conceive, develop, and implement innovative programs that address specific challenges and opportunities.
This Assistant Vice President will be part of the women.nyc initiative, a City-led initiative to make NYC the best place for women of all backgrounds to thrive in their businesses and careers through a variety of programs and partnerships.
Reporting to the Vice President of women.nyc the Assistant Vice President (AVP) will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio that supports economic empowerment programs to advance women in the New York City economy. These can include but not limited to women.nyc’s ongoing and pre-launch projects across women’s careers, women entrepreneurs, convening or community engagement among others that problem-solve challenges for women to succeed professionally and economically in NYC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Guided by women.nyc’s Vice President, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) will be mainly responsible for managing, designing and developing women.nyc’s portfolio, along other related programs including but not limited to Small Business Resource Network (SBRN)
- Manage and oversee a portfolio of programs: Ensure project milestones, outcomes and objectives are achieved and communicated to appropriate stakeholders by managing cross-departmental teams and multiple partnerships
- Offer informed insights on women’s economic empowerment areas and develop a comprehensive understanding of economic development opportunities in the field.
- Establish, maintain, and manage relationships with key external stakeholders and serve as a point person for various initiatives with the VP
- Proactively Identify key issues or trends, develop and ensure follow through on comprehensive work plans (project scope, timelines, required analyses, individual responsibilities, etc.)
- Create and deliver presentations that effectively communicate key project findings and recommendations to various audiences (e.g., senior EDC staff, City Hall staff, partner agencies, external stakeholders, etc.)
- Conduct or oversee primary and secondary research, data gathering and analysis
- Identifies opportunities for new program areas and leads new program ideation
- Contribute to team development and help oversee junior staff
- Partner with internal leadership, external stakeholders and other colleagues across EDC departments
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant work experience (e.g., management consulting firm, women’s economic empowerment programs, strategic planning, program design and execution, partnership management), 3+ in a strategy role in a demanding analytical environment
- Proven track-record of managing complex analytical projects to solve problems and provide actionable advice to senior decision-makers
- Ability to effectively balance a portfolio of projects, with potentially competing demands and deadlines, to respond to dynamic organizational priorities
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Experience interfacing with and advising senior leadership
- Demonstrated interest or experience in economic development, women’s economic mobility, gender gap public policy issues.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects from start to finish, leading projects through ambiguity, and galvanizing resources from various teams in concerted action
- Exposure building and maintaining client relationships or partnerships; demonstrated ability to manage professional relationships with stakeholders in a results-oriented environment Demonstrated track record of developing and maintaining productive working relationships with internal and external clients and parties
- Ability to look strategically at the big picture and search for insightful, creative solutions
- Extensive project management experience; ability to set up the problem, prioritize among competing needs, manage projects against tight timelines, and proactive and collaborative style that works well in teams
- Quantitative and problem-solving skills, comfort conducting ROI analysis, and skill working with data sets
- Passion for coaching, professional development and building strong teams
- Experience developing and mentoring junior-level staff
- Proactive self-starter and team player; able to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
- Ability to travel within five boroughs of New York City and attend evening and occasional weekend meetings
- Bilingual abilities are a plus (Spanish or Mandarin preferred)
- New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire

Salary Range: $90,000-93,000/year
