  • Key Responsibilities
  • This key position will drive internal communications and engagement initiatives for the US AbbVie Patient Services (APS) organization – primarily supporting the Vice President, APS, as well as the APS leadership team in their communication to broad internal audiences. This role will also manage the social media presence and external engagement opportunities for the Vice President, APS. Reporting to the Director of Business Communications and Operations for CA&O (Commercial Analytics & Operations) and APS, this role will also support select enterprise-wide and CA&O/APS-wide communications initiatives, ABV1 site communications, and field employee communications for broadly relevant topics (e.g., crisis-related updates, policy changes, and awards).
  • Work closely with the Vice President, APS, to provide communications recommendations that deepen home-office and field-based employee understanding of business goals and progress as well as enhance team culture, collaboration, and agility.
  • Plan, execute, and measure internal employee communications and engaging experiences that inform and inspire the APS organization: national meetings, town halls, email and video messages, interactive Q&As, etc.  
  • Evolve social media strategy/tactical plan and manage LinkedIn presence for Vice President, APS, in alignment with business goals.
  • Work closely with a network of internal and public affairs communicators, as well as cross-functional colleagues, to advance corporate enterprise, culture, and change-related initiatives within APS organization. Also help triage patient-related issues that are gaining traction in the public domain, when needed (e.g., patient access and support program-related issues).
  • Qualifications
  • Basic
  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, business, or related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience, comprised of internal communications, public relations, and/or public affairs responsibilities.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to utilize superior verbal and written communication skills to convey key messages.
  • Proven ability to partner and establish credibility with senior leaders, collaborate across functions, navigate challenges/complexities, and influence without direct authority in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to manage initiatives to intended outcomes, adapting and iterating as needed.
  • Knowledge of current communication trends and experience with multiple channels.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare landscape, including trends and issues relevant to AbbVie and the patients we serve.
  • Preferred
  • Communications experience (i.e., internal communications, public relations, and/or public affairs) within a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other life sciences organization.
  • Proven experience reflecting a senior leader’s “voice” when crafting written messages and talking points.
  • Proven experience creating communications strategies and messages for a patient-centric, mission-driven organization.
  • Proven experience developing and publishing communications in a regulated environment, including navigating content reviews with multiple stakeholders.
