The Glover Park Group (GPG), a leading strategic communications and government relations firm, is seeking an experienced strategic communications professional to join the firm’s Food & Agriculture practice. This position is based in our Washington, D.C. office.


  • Serve as day-to-day coordinator on a diverse roster of food and agriculture accounts, with special focus on food issues
  • Maintain expert knowledge of evolving policy and political issues that impact the food and agriculture sectors and a grasp of reporting trends
  • Craft and deliver persuasive messaging and related collateral materials, simplifying complex food policy, agricultural, legislative, regulatory, legal or other general issues. Strong writing abilities and attention to detail are critical to success in this position
  • Generate media outreach strategies and pitch stories on a regular basis
  • Manage multiple projects, including task and deadline tracking, for multiple clients from concept to completion
  • Demonstrate strong client-relations skills – responsive, professional, helpful
  • Contribute to firm’s new business process and efforts
  • Work with other GPG divisions to deliver integrated services (from government relations and advertising to content development and public opinion research)


  • A BA/BS degree in a related field and 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably at a food company; a communications firm that handles food, agriculture and related portfolios; or a state or federal agency or office that addresses food and agriculture policy
  • Strong strategic thinker with understanding of how larger public policy, economic and consumer landscape impacts clients’ businesses and needs
  • Extremely strong writing and communications skills; familiarity with both newspaper style and social media writing; ability to produce clear, concise materials within tight deadlines
  • Experience pitching stories to local and national news outlets and knowledge of what drives media coverage
  • Superior research and editing skills; ability to synthesize information quickly into trends
  • Ability to identify and cultivate key media contacts and outlets for a range of clients
  • Detail oriented and strong project management skills
  • A demonstrated capacity for leadership, communication, teamwork and collegiality within a tight-knit team
