Business Development Associate

Our people are our biggest assets, and we are currently looking for a Business Development Associate to join our business development team. A successful person in this role has a strong desire to learn about sales as well as our PAC and advocacy technology platforms, and makes an impact with our clients, prospects, and DDC staff. They are a confident problem-solver with excellent interpersonal skills. This is a great opportunity for someone knowledgeable of public affairs, public policy, political campaigns, and political technologies desiring to take the next big step in their career and learn from a team of talented professionals who have worked in this space for more than 25 years.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of and confidently communicate DDC’s public affairs services and solutions, especially our technology suite of services.
- Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective corporate, association, interest group, non-profit, lobbyist, and government affairs, clients.
- Work alongside senior leadership to deliver presentations and product demonstrations online and at client sites.
- Coordinate and manage customer onboarding with account teams, strategic consultants, and political operatives.
- Generate new business opportunities through email, calls, and networking.
- Meet sales quotas, maintain a high level of customer service, and retain clients.
- Attend networking events, conferences, and meetings.
- Work collaboratively with our internal teams to develop business solutions for clients and DDC employees.
- Proposal development and RFP response management.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years professional experience working in sales, public affairs, political campaigns, or public policy.
- Prior business development/sales experience, and knowledge of the public affairs marketplace.
- Strong background in B2B and/or SaaS sales processes.
- Understanding of CRM, website technologies, and system integration processes for the B2B market.
- Ability to build and leverage relationships.
- Knowledge and experience with government affairs, member and trade associations, interest groups, non-profits, law firms, and lobbying firms.
- Strong understanding of and ability to converse knowledgeably about PAC and advocacy technology, public policy, and public affairs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Willing to travel up to 15% of the time.
This is a full-time, exempt position that offers a competitive base salary, plus commission potential based on sales, outstanding benefits including medical insurance, 401(k), and a fast-paced campaign-style work environment.
This position will be based in our downtown Washington, D.C., office near the McPherson Square Metro.
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
