The Jamestown Foundation seeks a China Policy Associate to primarily focus on economic, technology, trade and supply-chain issues, including US-China dynamics in these areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and background in Asian affairs and extensive knowledge of the contemporary politics of the Indo-Pacific region. The position requires extensive knowledge of contemporary China. Familiarity with Chinese is preferred but not mandatory. The position is full-time and located on-site at Jamestown’s office in downtown Washington, DC.

Position Responsibilities:
• Research and write a weekly column in the Jamestown publication Stealth War (www.stealth-war.org);
• Commission and edit Occasional Papers and China-related research and analysis;
• Contribute to social media, conducting outreach activities for Jamestown’s China program;
• Assist in Jamestown outreach to Congressional staff on US-China economic issues and supply-chain vulnerabilities;
• Draft donor correspondence and aid Jamestown’s President in development and fundraising activities for the China program;
• Assist in the editorial process of Jamestown’s other publications. Duties may include copy editing and research. Candidates therefore are encouraged to be familiar with Jamestown’s entire publication portfolio; and
• Various other organizational tasks as assigned, which may also include: conference and event planning as well as arranging media interviews.

Desired Qualifications:
• BA or higher degree in Political Science, Asian Studies, International Studies or a related field (MA preferred);
• Proficiency in Chinese is preferred but not mandatory;
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English;
• Must be a US citizen, permanent legal resident or otherwise legally permitted to work in the United States;
• Outstanding editing, organizational, and administrative skills;
• Working knowledge of Chinese economic and supply-chain vulnerabilities, as well as Asian politics;
• Strong background in publishing and editing; familiarity with online publishing, WordPress and web design a plus; and
• Knowledge of Mailchimp and Eventbrite.

Salary commensurate with experience. We do not support or sponsor work visas.
