Communications Analyst – Veterans Affairs

Support the Federal Electronic Health Records Modernization (FEHRM) in a wide range of communications and government affairs functions, to include the preparation of online media content, responses to Executive Branch inquires, development of annual plans, and planning of events for stakeholders. Draft narrative to communicate key information on topics such as program status, risks, action items, technical challenges, milestones and clinical training and adoption. Tailor content to multiple audiences. Use slides, reports and other artifacts to ‘tell the story’ of the organization, such as status, challenges and opportunities. Maintain slide libraries for efficient assembly of decks for senior leader speaking engagements. Work under deadline and in close contact with senior government and contract leadership. Support a variety of administrative and strategic initiatives to meet communications plan objectives. Work across the team to identify, collect information and coordinate inputs. Support the development of internal document management policies, standard operating procedures, and strategic plans.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum of 4 years of experience is required. An additional 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements
  • Expert knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of storytelling and design best practices
  • Knowledge of appropriate data sources to address the specific requirements of projects for monitoring, characterization, analysis and modeling
  • Able to perform research, writing and editing, including the writing and editing of project products to established government standards
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to present at meetings and workshops on project work and participate in discussions
  • Master’s degree in Healthcare, Science, Computer Engineering or related scientific, technical, or clinical discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs communications space
  • Ability to tailor content for specific audiences and diverse communications channels (e.g., social media, web, briefings)
  • Ability to measure, monitor, and evaluate communications
