We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Manager to join our team. 

  • The Communications Manager will manage external and internal branded communications for all our business divisions, brands, and departments.
  • This role will help strengthen our company’s reputation from both a customer and employer brand perspective.
  • This role will need to ensure they are laser-focused on promoting a positive public image and controlling the dissemination of information on our company’s behalf.

The Communications Manager role will work across the company supporting the house brands, as well as partner messaging. Their responsibilities will include:

Media Relations

  • Writing and distributing press releases, in addition to fielding media requests for information
  • Building and maintaining relationships with industry outlets and organizations
  • Owning and maintaining a multi-brand PR calendar and all reporting
  • Collaborating with partners and investors on messaging and communication strategies
  • Pitching news and industry outlets to promote our brand message
  • Working with the Editor-in-Chief on thought leadership initiatives
  • Writing news updates and creating public-facing annual reports for website

Social Media

  • Managing our company’s social media presence across multiple brands and platforms
  • Owning and maintaining a multi-brand social media campaign calendar and all reporting
  • Monitoring public opinion via social listening and other brand management tools
  • Collaborating with China team to ensure consistent messaging across Global and China networks
  • Participating in social media conversations and other online community discussions
  • Running paid campaigns on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter as part of broader marketing strategies
  • Activating an industry influencer network that can be leveraged to share messages and initiatives
  • Building, implementing, and running an employee social media advocacy program to increase brand awareness and promote employer brand

Industry Engagement – Conferences and Events

  • Organizing conference participation and supporting in-office events
  • Actively contributing to industry organization (i.e. SSP, ISMTE) discussions, events, and networking opportunities
  • Supporting in the development of marketing materials such as printed collateral, white papers, and case studies
  • Coordinating public appearances, guest authorship, thought leadership initiatives, and speaking engagements for organizational leaders and Editor-in-Chief
  • Coordinating with HR, Product, and Customer Service teams to apply for company awards
  • Ordering on-brand SWAG, maintaining inventory, and allocating items for marketing

Internal Communications

  • Creating, implementing, and sharing style guides that adhere to our brand voice
  • Writing and submitting corporate newsletter content
  • Ensuring office environment is reflective of on-brand messaging: walls, TVs, printed material
  • Assisting in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership as appropriate
  • Facilitating corporate communications and brand updates


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in managing business communications or scholarly publishing industry
  • Phenomenal written and verbal English communication skills
  • Familiarity with or interest in academia or publishing is a plus
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience with social listening and brand management tools is a plus
  • Experience writing content for all media platforms
  • Ability to balance a strategic and creative mindset with meticulous attention to detail
  • Willingness to be an active, productive member of a high-performing remote team
  • Graphic design skills are a plus
  • Experience with Github, Markdown also a plus
  • Local proximity to Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina a plus
