Recognized for its consistent cooperation and collaboration with cities, Spin partners closely with transportation planners, elected officials, community groups, and university administrators to bring stationless mobility options to streets in a responsible and carefully orchestrated manner.
Based in San Francisco, Spin is a diverse team of engineers, designers, urban planners, policymakers, lawyers and operators with experience from Y Combinator, Lyft, Uber, local and federal government, and the transportation advocacy world. Spin was known for launching the first stationless mobility program in Seattle, and has since expanded to become the exclusive electric scooter partner in mid-sized cities like Coral Gables, Florida and Lexington, Kentucky, and one of a few permitted scooter operators in large cities like Denver, Detroit, and Washington, D.C. The team embeds in cities and neighborhoods to understand their specific transportation needs, and hires locally from the community.
Spin is expanding quickly and looking for top-tier talent to help us bring affordable and accessible transportation options to cities and define what future safe streets will look like.
About the Role

We are looking for a Communications Manager to be responsible for the strategy and execution of local and policy communications across the U.S. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, and in partnership with local operations, policy, and partnerships teams, the Communications Manager will:

  • Create and communicate policy-oriented messaging to journalists, governments, non-profit partners, livable streets advocates, mobility advocates, and business development partners
  • Build expertise on micromobility policy topics, including safety, sustainability, infrastructure, transit access, equity, and data privacy
  • Find creative ways to differentiate Spin from its competitors, using market knowledge to discover and amplify new narratives
  • Act as a trusted, strategic partner to teams including Local Marketing, Government Partnerships, Policy and Local Operations.
  • Cultivate relationships with third-party stakeholders, including non-profits, government agencies, and mobility partners, and amplify their voices in campaigns
  • Track down both data-driven and anecdotal market stories, and infuse into all public-facing material


  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or public affairs
  • Comfortable acting as a company spokesperson with on-the-record media experience
  • Ability to deliver results and exercise sound business judgment in fast-paced, changing, and sometimes ambiguous situations and environments
  • Experience project managing or collaborating with PR agency or teams in a cross-functional work environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Position can be based anywhere, San Francisco is preferable
