Facebook is looking for an experienced Communications Manager to lead communications for Facebook’s public policy executives. The ideal candidate is someone who has strong experience working at the intersection of technology and public policy and can work autonomously with executives to build relationships across a wide range of teams in the U.S. and internationally. Candidates should have strong media relations and writing skills, a good understanding of the U.S. and global political landscape as well as a good understanding of technology issues, our policies and the social debate around our platforms. The role will be based in our headquarters at Menlo Park, California.

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, PUBLIC POLICY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage communications for Facebook’s public policy executives
  • Work closely with teams around the world to design an effective, long-term communications strategy for both the U.S. and global audiences
  • Work with others to manage press inquiries, interviews, speeches, internal communications, and executive social media
  • Develop and create a wide range of external communications materials including blog posts, communications plans, statements, briefing materials for executives and more
  • Manage in-bound press inquiries on a range of issues
  • Organize press briefings, media sessions, and events
  • Continue to develop and utilize deep knowledge and understanding of the policy and political landscape across the U.S. institutions, in Brussels and worldwide, working in concert with the policy team
  • Some international and U.S. travel will be required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of work experience in communications and US public affairs
  • Experience working in policy related environments in Washington D.C., Brussels or elsewhere
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional groups including Legal, Public Policy, Marketing, and Research
  • Experience driving both proactive and reactive communications
  • Experience with technology, political and international press
  • Knowledge of Facebook products and policies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 14+ years of communications experience
  • Experience working with senior executives in fast-paced, challenging environments
  • Experience working with global teams
  • Experience working outside the U.S.
