Job Summary:

The Disney Parks, Experiences and Products (DPEP) segment includes Disney’s iconic travel and leisure businesses, which include six resort destinations in the United States, Europe and Asia, a top-rated cruise line, a popular vacation ownership program, and an award-winning guided family adventure business. Disney’s global consumer products operations include the world’s leading licensing business across toys, apparel, home goods, digital games and apps; the world’s largest children’s publisher; Disney store locations around the world; and the shopDisney e-commerce platform. The global DPEP Public Affairs team in Glendale, Calif. is responsible for collaborating with business partners around the world and creating campaigns and initiatives that protect and enhance the reputation of DPEP globally.

Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is to provide communications support across the DPEP Communications and Public Affairs team, reporting to the Manager, Communications and Public Affairs.

A Day in the Life…

  • Support DPEP strategic planning by developing and managing the DPEP global planning and announcement calendar working with global calendar planning representatives from each line of business
  • Partner with teams throughout DPEP, including the Employee Communications, Issues Management, Corporate Citizenship, Public Relations and Special Events teams to ensure alignment and information sharing
  • Coordinate dissemination of top priorities and initiatives for Communications and Public Affairs organization
  • Share best practices in communication planning with global DPEP Communications and Public Affairs teams
  • Develop plans for and maintain DPEP Communications and Public Affairs communications vehicles, including the DPEP website, fact sheets and messaging documents to ensure they are up-to-date and align with ongoing business priorities
  • Project manage Disney Parks Blog projects including blog creation, asset creation, collaborating with partners, securing approvals and developing related social media copy as needed
  • Develop story ideas, messaging and creative digital media content for multiple communication platforms including blog posts, the DPEP website and other owned digital platforms in support of campaigns and timely opportunities
  • Conduct thorough research audits on various topics to inform communications and media strategies
  • Assist on creation of decks/presentations for executive leadership on Public Affairs priorities, projects and campaigns
  • Special projects, as assigned by external communications leadership

Basic Qualifications

You Bring…

  • Excellent writing and research skills with an understanding of how news media works
  • Experience with technical platforms (ex. Smartsheet, Adobe Suite), including website content development
  • Experience managing projects and campaign initiatives with an understanding of overarching goals, objectives and relevant considerations
  • Experience with social media platforms in a professional setting
  • Proven self-starter and team player with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Associated Press writing style

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous reporting/writing experience in print, television or online media or in a professional setting
  • Experience developing creative content for social media platforms, such as videos, animations, graphics, and stories

Required Education

  • Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related field
