Position

Just Neighbors seeks a dynamic and passionate Community Engagement Manager to implement community outreach and advancement strategies throughout Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC. This advancement professional will be responsible for fostering meaningful connections, building partnerships, and mobilizing individual and community support to advance the mission of Just Neighbors. By managing communications, events, volunteerism, and donor stewardship, the Community Engagement Manager will allow Just Neighbors to grow our immigration legal services to help more immigrants and refugees throughout our footprint.

Responsibilities

Advancement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, partner organizations, and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Director of Development to implement individual donor fundraising strategies and solicit and engage with potential, new and current donors
  • Organize and facilitate community events and outreach activities to raise awareness, promote participation, and encourage support
  • Steward current donors and identify prospects who can be cultivated to support the organization through sponsorship, financial gifts as well as volunteerism and community events
  • Utilize the donor management system (Neon CRM) to create regular reports and donor/donation analytics
  • Oversee donation entry, accuracy of database and donor appreciation and acknowledgement
  • Work with the development committee to plan and implement fundraising events
  • Be available occasional evenings or weekends for fundraising events or committee meetings
  • Be willing to travel to areas of Virginia, Maryland and DC for fundraising or community events
  • Maintain ongoing relationships and communications with fundraising and community partners

Communications

  • Convey the mission, vision, and impact of the work of Just Neighbors in a compelling manner
  • Develop and execute monthly e-newsletter about program successes, opportunities and events
  • Regularly highlight client and volunteer success stories
  • Manage communications through social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) and the website.
  • Implement communications strategies and tasks (flyers, announcements, posts, etc.) to support the various Just Neighbors programs
  • Occasionally give in-person presentation to groups about the work of Just Neighbors

Volunteerism

  • Lead efforts to recruit and manage volunteers and community ambassadors to support the various legal clinics and outreach events
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement efforts, track key metrics, and generate reports to assess impact and inform decision-making
  • Develop and maintain relationships with volunteers through volunteer appreciation and stewardship
  • Coordinate outreach tables and secure volunteers to staff the events
  • Create volunteer information videos/handouts to ensure volunteers are trained and informed
  • Collaborate in efforts to get clients and volunteers involved in advocacy efforts
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience with nonprofit advancement and implementation. Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal communication, with the ability to effectively engage and inspire diverse audiences. Knowledge of community engagement and volunteerism. Experience with successfully carrying out larger and small-scale fundraising events. Proven track record of work in the advancement field around donor and volunteer cultivation, stewardship and tracking. Commitment to the mission and culture of Just Neighbors.

  • Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office Suite products, CRM software, WordPress and basic design software (Canva).
  • Ability to flourish in a challenging, but community-driven, environment
  • Flexibility, creativity, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor
  • Spanish language (preferred)

Salary range is $58,000-$73,000, contingent on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined by established, non-negotiable salary bands and objective criteria relevant to the position.
