Community & Government Affairs Liaison
Develops and coordinates community relations activities for agency-based campaign initiatives. Maintains community and government affairs awareness within designated communities (Brooklyn or Queens) to identify potential opportunities and/or partnerships to enhance organ and tissue donation awareness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies, cultivates, and maintains positive working relationships with key individuals in the policymaker, educator, business, religious, civic, media, etc. spheres to actively support LiveOnNY’s efforts to educate and engage the public about donation.
Establishes relations/key contacts within agencies/organizations that will serve to enhance community engagement.
Develops and implements plans for providing educational vehicles related to organ and tissue donation for diverse ethnic and racial communities.
Organizes and produces presentations and informational packages. Seeks out speaking engagements and participation in relevant forums, such as exhibits, health fairs, conferences and seminars, classes.
Develops goals, standardized objectives and outlines most effective methods of delivery of community education and activities.
Effectively collaborates with all appropriate LiveOnNY staff to ensure appropriate delivery of all educational and outreach services, including those occurring outside of normal work hours.
Identifies concerns and barriers to donation in designated service area.
Evaluate strategies and programs delivered for effectiveness, and maintain records related to specialty programs presented, including attendance, evaluation, etc.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Ideal candidates shall hold a Minimum bachelor’s degree preferably with a focus on public education, marketing or related area of study and five to seven years of community engagement, marketing and/or public education experience.
Demonstrated success in the of development and execution of community, communications, and/or marketing programs essential. Experience creating and executing annual strategies and a history of working with all levels of professionals including C-suite required.
Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office and Outlook required.
Ability to work a flexible schedule. May be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.
Demonstrated affiliations with community-based organizations within catchment area. Familiarity with neighborhood dynamics. Understanding of the econoic, social and demographic forces within designated borough.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, feature articles, and informational materials. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Bilingual (English/Hindi/Korean/Urdu) a plus.
