Community Relations Specialist
The Community Relations Specialist plans, develops and coordinates community relations activities to support campus growth and to create and maintain a favorable public image for the University. The Community Relations Specialist will interface and participate in various activities with alumni, current and potential students, faculty, staff, Employer Partnership colleagues, non-profit partners and the community at large. In addition, with the highest level and understanding of the Enrollment Advisor role, a Community Relations Specialist serves as a source of information about local programs and offerings to new and potential local students.
1. Plan, develop and implement community relations activities that promote and increase awareness of the University; research and coordinate community relations programs and/or activities to favorably position the University among the business, government and other communities, as well as with alumni, students, faculty and staff.
2. Manage and/or coordinate all enrollment lead generation activities for the assigned [market,] including but not limited to events for campus staff to attend/host, participating in off-site lead-producing activities (e.g., marketing campaign oversight and developing and maintaining business relationships) at corporations and other off-campus locations; to produce qualified lead generations for enrollment advisors.
3. Recruit students for graduate and undergraduate programs by hosting and / or attending off-site events that will lead to local new market inquiries; travel to various locations to call on prospective students, disseminate University course information and direct prospective students to appropriate University resources. Ensure leads are qualified and interested in entering a program of study and ensure new students are oriented to University policies and services prior to contact with an Enrollment Advisor.
4. Research and arrange for appropriate speaking opportunities for University personnel at professional associations, business organization luncheons, Chamber of Commerce events and other events to promote the goodwill of the University; maintain a calendar of events.
5. Negotiate contracts, proposals and/or agreements with vendors, outside partners and organizations that provide resources to support lead-generating activities; determine and manage event budget and interface with Finance partners on annual budget planning.
6. Collaborate with University Marketing personnel to coordinate community relations activities with promotional and lead-generating activities to generate interest and enrollment in University classes, certifications and/or degree programs.
7. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge and expertise as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field from an accredited institution
• Four years of experience in customer service and/or student advising
• Ability to travel regularly to locations outside the campus
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Functional or Grad Team, programmatic knowledge, customer service and/or student advising experience in an educational environment that requires one-on-one interaction
• Demonstrable competence in event planning, public speaking, public relations, sales and marketing strategy development and implementation, including lead generation plans and objectives
• Successful sales or marketing experience with one-on-one interaction
• Excellent command of professional presentation skills to present to large and small groups
• Ability to negotiate contracts, proposals or agreements with vendors, outside partners and organizations
• MS Office, SharePoint and Outlook
