We are looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented, strategic content policy expert and experienced people manager to join Platform & Legal Policy as our new Content Policy Lead. Platform & Legal Policy (PLP) focuses on a variety of trust and safety areas, with a particular emphasis on protecting the expression rights and private information of communities and users across Reddit through strategic solutions that balance defensible risk. This exciting new role reports to the Director of PLP, and will focus on empowering Reddit communities by developing thoughtful, principle-based, and transparent Reddit Rules that enable active, independent, and consistent content moderation and enforcement.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee strategic content policy development, evolve our policy launch process, support effective implementation processes, and keep track of policy effectiveness from concept to release
  • Build and lead a high-functioning, collaborative, and nimble policy development team
  • Proactively identify policy gaps and prioritize impactful, data-driven solutions and improvements in support of Reddit’s mission
  • Provide expert guidance and information to other internal teams to advance various product, platform, and community policy initiatives; serve as the primary point of escalation for enforcement teams seeking policy clarifications for edge cases
  • Liaise with the Reddit Community Relations team to gather, understand, and act on moderator feedback on the Reddit Rules
  • Improve existing processes and develop new efforts to increase consistent and fair enforcement of the Rules across products and features
  • Strategically address global content regulations and moderation trends in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to company executives, PLP leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders on complex and novel policy issues and enforcement decisions
  • Partner with PLP leadership on strategic global expansion planning and projects, and team wellness initiatives
  • Develop trusted relationships with cross-functional partners to increase collaboration and effectiveness
  • Set and track team strategies and performance in service to delivering OKRs
  • Player-coach who is willing to assist with day-to-day tasks as needed to support team goals
  • Serve as a role model of Reddit’s Company Values

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of relevant content policy development and 3+ years of people management experience
  • BA/BS or equivalent education/experience at a consumer technology company
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Intuitive, creative, flexible, organized, and detail oriented
  • Inspiring and empathetic people leader
  • Sound and consistent judgment in crisis management situations
  • Proven track record as an effective collaborator with peers and cross-functional stakeholders to implement strategic initiatives and tackle complex challenges
  • Deep understanding of online trust & safety issues, community interactions and engagement, user generated content and other safety risks
  • Global perspective on policy development, enhancement, and implementation
  • Ready to work across time zones and be flexible on working hours
  • Strong analytical skills to assess root causes and drive towards tailored, achievable solutions
  • Ability to excel and drive change in a dynamic, fast-paced distributed environment
  • Able to identify trends and synthesize customer/partner feedback to influence company and team strategy
