Content Strategy Program Manager
The Content Strategy Program Manager is responsible for collaborating with APAs teams and stakeholders across the organization to promote the design and delivery of innovative live, in-person learning programs and for utilizing resources designed to meet the best practices in instructional design. Under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Scientific Programs, the Content Strategy Program Manager will plan, implement, and manage activities associated with the American Psychiatric Associations Annual Meeting and Mental Health Services Conference. Housed within the Office of Scientific Programs (OSP), Division of Education, the incumbent will work with the Director to innovate, develop, and implement the educational content of these two meetings. In addition, they will collaborate with external subject matter experts and staff across the organization, including accreditation and compliance, marketing, membership, online learning, and logistics, to maximize the impact of APAs live educational programs for multidisciplinary healthcare teams. This position will have direct management of planning committee activities, manage the office production timelines and work plans, and assume responsibility for various departmental tasks as assigned by the Director. The content strategy program manager is also responsible for developing, administering, and implementing administrative procedures and operational methods for efficient functioning of all Annual Meeting and Mental Health Services Conference activities and ensuring adherence to accreditation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the direction of Director, OSP, will be responsible for implementing and managing programmatic aspects of the Annual Meeting and Mental Health Services Conference.
- Creates and tracks detailed work plans which identify and sequence the activities needed to implement the meetings/conferences noted above successfully. Work plans include session scheduling, room assignments, acquiring faculty materials, abstract solicitation, and other work plans as assigned.
- Manages live learning program operations and evaluates and aligns processes to maximize efficiency.
- Leads subcommittees associated with the in-person Annual Meeting and Mental Health Services Conference.
- Leads course development and strategizes the meeting’s interactive and innovative learning lab and EduTours.
- Oversees educational programming related to medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Prepares faculty correspondence, manage submission reports, handles incoming submissions and speaker deliverables, drafts and distributes meeting agendas and minutes, implements and maintains program timelines and work plans, and develops program close-out reports.
- Collaborates with the Director and Associate Director, Office of Scientific Programs to evaluate live learning programs to ensure continuous improvement.
- Uses project management approaches to ensure meeting/conference initiatives adhere to project milestones, scope, and policies.
- Ensures faculty and committee members adhere to budget/travel-related policies and that reimbursements and invoices are appropriately processed.
- Ensures cost-effective solutions to meet conference objectives.
- Drafts and reviews documentation organizes internal and external meetings, maintains accurate records and schedules, and communicates the status of projects to the Director and Associate Director of the Office of Scientific Programs.
- Attends Annual Meeting and Mental Health Services Conference to ensure programs are appropriately implemented.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office of Scientific Programs.
- Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 4 years of related work experience in managing administrative aspects of live learning programs for healthcare professionals continuing professional development; or bachelors degree in relevant discipline with a CMP or a DES certification plus three years of relevant experience.
- Project Management certification and a minimum of three years of related work experience. Work experience includes planning and executing projects, assisting with completion of multiple complex projects.
- Management experience with ability to work with diverse audiences and needs.
- Experience in managing volunteer groups while being responsible for multiple educational programs.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills are essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member and excellent organizational communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other business tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement accredited programs in various innovative settings and formats.
- CME/CE experience and association experience are a plus; experience with event management, or abstract management software is preferred.
