Corporate Responsibility, Federal Government Relations Associate

The Corporate Responsibility (CR) department oversees the development and implementation of the firm’s CR agenda and initiatives by crafting goals, policies, and initiatives that align with the firm’s business strategies and operational objectives and support communities where we do business. The department includes Global Government Relations, Global Philanthropy, Regulatory Affairs, Research & Policy, Market Strategy, and Sustainability.
Global Government Relations is seeking to fill the role of Associate located in its Washington, D.C. office. The position will be a key member of the Federal Government Relations team, reporting to an Executive Director within Federal Government Relations (FGR). The ideal candidate will leverage her/his experience, skills and knowledge of the financial services industry to effectively drive, coordinate and communicate daily and long-term objectives for senior managers, colleagues across CR, and other partners at the firm and will be responsible for a variety of critical areas related to FGR’s operations and overall strategy. S/he will have responsibility for managing key external relationships and provide support and leadership on department-wide initiatives. The Associate will also be responsible for the execution of special internal- and external-facing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the timely preparation and delivery of briefing materials and talking points for meetings and events for senior executives, coordinating with the FGR team, as well as the different CR divisions and Lines of Business as needed. Work with the senior FGR team to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of written materials.
Track, monitor and summarize financial services legislation and Congressional hearings
Facilitate meetings to ensure up-to-date expertise on key topics of importance to the firm
Manage internal communication on wide range of issues (including policy analysis, tracking hearings and markups, etc.) and prepare background materials on issues for lines of business and internal newsletters
Manage and support management of external relationships with trade associations and other third parties in coordination with the GR senior team. Represent JPMorgan Chase at meetings with external stakeholders
Coordinate opportunities to engage government officials in dialogue about JPMC initiatives.
Track significant initiatives and projects across the department and the firm. Provide project management and coordination assistance to project teams and monitor progress on an ongoing basis to ensure appropriate briefing intervals for the FGR senior team and successful project completion.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree Required
Minimum 4-6 years of relevant work experience, policy or government experience
Demonstrated understanding of financial service and business issues
Knowledge of federal political and legislative processes, including key policy areas and leading figures in Washington, and the political and regulatory landscape
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Independent problem-solving experience, sound judgment and ability to collaborate with a team
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong ability to articulate concepts and strategies effectively
Experience presenting to and communicating with senior management
Excellent relationship-building skills
High attention to detail; follows through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness
Positive self-starter with proactive approach, excellent time management and prioritization skills
Mastery of core Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
