What we’re looking for:

TogetherSF is a civic engagement organization seeking a Digital Communications Manager to join its San Francisco team to lead the organization’s communications needs with a heavy emphasis on content creation, strengthening the volunteer journey, brand awareness and network growth. This role supports the TogetherSF (TSF) mission of creating a rapidly growing network of civically engaged doers eager to make change happen on the local level in San Francisco and reports to the Director of Operations and Community Engagement.

About the Role:

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Communications strategy for TogetherSF
  2. Lead for communications strategy, messaging, create network and social media growth campaigns and volunteer journey
  3. Training others on communication best practices
  4. Developing curriculum and delivering trainings virtually or in-person
  5. Updating and maintaining TogetherSF Brand Guidelines
  6. Copy creation, writing, editing and approval
  7. Daily social media across all platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Focus on short video content
  1. Weekly newsletter content
  2. Email marketing and drip campaigns using Mailchimp
  3. Paid media ad campaigns, leverage in-house Digital Marketing Manager to build and manage
  4. Blog posts on relevant topics and news stories (as needed), leverage volunteer writers
  5. PR and earned media (as needed)
  6. Data tracking and organizing tools
  7. Customer Relationship Management tools (currently SalesForce)
  8. Oversee data updates and tracking from event and email marketing platforms
  9. Analysis of data trends and suggest follow-up messaging by volunteer segments
  10. mapping and encouraging the volunteer journey
  11. Recommendations, implementation, and use of organizing tools to integrate with the TogetherSF website
  12. Recommendations, implementation, and use of NextDoor, Outreach Circle, Salsa, Facebook Groups to meet organization organizing goals

About You:


  • Understanding of San Francisco issues
  • 5+ years experience in marketing and communications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and editing skills
  • Experience using Google suite and Microsoft suite
  • Experience leading meetings with effective communication and outcomes agreed upon
  • Meet deliverables on deadlines, sometimes daily
  • Experience developing branding, message frames, and storytelling
  • Comfortable switching between writing, strategy, and project management on any given day


  • Experience with graphic design using Abobe Illustrator & Photoshop
  • Experience using SalesForce, Mailchimp, Mobilize, SquareSpace, Notion, Outreach Circle, ThruText, and Slack
  • Passion for community building, civic engagement and causes at the local level
