Job Description: NLIRH seeks a digital strategist who could leverage our social and digital media channels to keep NLIRH’s edge as the leading national voice and advocate for reproductive justice for the Latina/x community. The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced public affairs shop that is formulating a strategic vision to best position the organization’s voice and brand during a time of exciting growth. The candidate must be a proactive and digitally savvy strategist who can grasp the complex and interrelated dynamics of reproductive justice work and distill those concepts into fabulous creative content—from pithy tweets to infographics and video clips. Candidates should doggedly follow news and activism on reproductive justice and Latinx issues to help us drive conversations and action in what is a fast moving and political charged environment.

 

The ideal candidate will have, or be willing to hone, strong design, storytelling and marketing skills to create visually appealing multimedia stories and lightweight content that: 1) reinforce brand awareness and 2) drive up engagement on our channels. The candidate will be part of a team that is beginning to experiment with the latest advances in social media marketing to advance organizational goals. Ideal candidates are innately comfortable communicating in Spanish and English.

 

Position Location: Washington, DC or New York City

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assists with the development and implementation of integrated multi-media communications strategies to position NLIRH as the leading national Latina/x voice on reproductive justice issues;
  • Coordinates across all departments to design a social media calendar that manages a steady drumbeat of creative content across all national channels. Works with Latina Advocacy Networks to help them develop social media calendars, social media messaging and creative content for state-based channels.
  • Creates, posts and, when relevant, boosts social media content on the national social media channels, based on the social media calendar and trending moments. Works with other members of the team and consultants to create multi-media first-person storytelling campaigns.
  • Creates social media toolkits to share with activist networks and other relevant partners for key storytelling and media campaigns.
  • Provides strategic guidance to staff members, as needed, to ensure brand cohesion and consistency in our look and feel and reproductive justice messaging. Trains and share best practices in digital and social media strategies with the Latina Advocacy Networks.
  • Designs creative content—including graphics. Works closely with development and community mobilization teams to build a shared library of creative content and branded templates.
  • Updates the organizational and other related websites with media related content.
  • Monitors and reports out analytics on social media and digital engagement as needed;
  • Tracks and records all social media lobbying efforts in a timely manner.

 

 

 

 

Main Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2- 3 years of experience in a social media or digital marketing role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or educational equivalent ideally in communications, journalism, or public policy;
  • Knowledgeable in WordPress and/or Drupal, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and Hootsuite and/or TweetDeck.
  • Cultural competency and experience working with Latina/x communities;
  • Superior written and oral communication skills in both Spanish and English;
  • Excellent time and project management skills with a results-driven approach;
  • Commitment to excellence, accuracy, and high-quality work;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of integrity and sound judgment and ability to communicate and work collaboratively across the organization openly and with respect; and
  • Commitment to reproductive justice and other intersecting social justice issues.
