HU is part of The Omidyar Group, a diverse collection of organizations, each guided by its own approach, but united by a common desire to catalyze social impact.

Position Summary:

Humanity United is seeking an experienced Director to lead the Strategic Communications team within the organization’s Public Engagement portfolio. • Advanced knowledge of strategic communications best practices, particularly in strategic messaging, global reputation management, and media relations.
  • Keen understanding of the importance of narratives and storytelling—and the ability to support colleagues and partners to effectively hone this skill.
  • Enthusiasm, maturity, and proven leadership, with the ability to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels within the organization and in coalition settings.
  • Ability to thoughtfully engage high level executives and support their communications needs.
  • Humility and dedication to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, partners, grantees, and others.
  • Experience in leading corporate communications.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Operational requirements include:
  • Strong understanding of budget and operations.
  • Excellent and proven experience as an effective people manager.
  • Highly collaborative style, relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to “manage by influence.”
