A member of the senior leadership team, The Director of Communications & Public Affairs reports to the Head of
School. The Director is responsible for all aspects of internal and external communications at Norwich Free Academy
and management of the NFA Brand.
Responsibilities
 Collaborate with the Head of School, ,senior leadership, and constituent groups to develop communications
strategies to broaden programmatic reach and deepen impact
 Develop and refine NFA’s messaging in all applications to ensure organizational credibility and consistency
with mission and goals
 Manage media and serve as organizational spokesperson as appropriate to support NFA’s mission and goals,
and to advance the NFA Brand.
 Oversee staff to plan, coordinate, differentiate, and execute communications to all NFA’s constituencies and
on all platforms – print, website, social media, etc.
 Manage consultative relationships as appropriate with service providers, contract workers, and venders
 Serve as senior editor of all content in print and electronic format, including the website
 Operate as an essential element of the crisis management team

Qualifications
 Undergraduate degree in communications and/or an equivalent field.
 3-5 years of leadership experience
 3-5 years communications experience including advocacy, PR, and media relations
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms (eg: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook), Adobe
Creative Cloud and Hootsuite, a plus
 Demonstrated track record of producing high quality deliverables and positioning an organization to achieve
tangible outcomes in a competitive communications environment
