Position Summary

The Director of Community Affairs fosters strategic relationships with local and state officials to promote successful endeavors in the company’s local markets and assists in establishment of corporate strategies, policies, and plans to the company. The Director maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with local and state officials and represents and protects the organizations interests.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Community Relations
  • Develops and fosters effective relationships with local government agencies, government partners, key policymakers, and the business community (mayors, city council, city administrators, planning departments, utility companies).
  • Promote company development interests to government leaders and negotiate beneficial solutions for company success in local markets.
  • Organize rallies and meetings with key supporters/partners to promote company agenda.
  • Identify opportunities to provide financial and other support to community stakeholders and support groups.
  • Navigate local government and public concerns and obstacles with company business, and create and implement solutions to overcome and achieve company goals.
  • Works with leadership to develop strategies on local regulations affecting the business, legislative issues and public relations.
  • Conducts outreach with all State and Local industry interest groups, builders associations, community groups, city planning commissions, city councils, state agencies, and other partners on Company issues, agendas and public relations.
  • Travels and attends local meetings involving plan approvals, policy decisions, disputes, and negotiations. Overnight travel may be frequent (50% of time).
  • Collaborate with and mobilize State and Local industry support groups, associations, trade partners, and others to support local agendas.
  • Research and create strategic relationships with local civic groups, businesses, schools, and other potential support-groups to help promote company agendas.
  • Serves as advocate for Company
  • Articulates important industry and public policy priorities and positions for the Company.
  • Other duties as defined by the General Counsel.
Requirements
  • At least four (4) years of experience in community relations, community affairs, government affairs, sales, public relations or similar fields
  • Excellent relations skills

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Physical Demands

  • Must have manual use of hands and vision to use computer constantly
