Position Summary

Since 1993, ASSETS has provided training and technical assistance for entrepreneurs and in 2014, began offering loans. ASSETS Is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and partners with the Small Business Administration to provide small business loans to entrepreneurs in Berks, Dauphin, Lebanon, Lancaster, and York County. ASSETS’ Community Lending products are created to meet the business needs of women and BIPOC entrepreneurs who have historically faced systemic barriers to accessing capital. This position will be responsible for overseeing the Community Lending team and develop programs to continue to increase equitable access to capital through intentional lending products and processes.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

Client and Community Outreach

  • In partnership with the Community Lending Loan Officer, engage with existing and prospective borrowers.
  • Utilize internal and external partnerships to provide lending services to entrepreneurs.
  • Represent ASSETS and participate in coalitions, committees, community groups and at conferences upon request or direction of leadership.
  • Participate in ASSETS and community events.

Loan Review and Analysis

  • Responsible for processing, underwriting, and closing commercial loans.
  • Review loan applications submitted by the ASSETS loan officer and submit complete credit memorandums with loan decision recommendations to the Executive Loan Review team and the Loan Review Committee.
  • Review client credit reports in collaboration with the ASSETS loan officer to provide financial coaching recommendations that will support client needs.
  • Develop written credit memorandums that Include the loan purpose description, cash flow analysis, and risk analysis.

 

Loan Operations and Servicing

  • Maintain and develop loan policies, procedures, and operational guidelines to support the Community Lending Program.
  • Manage the collection and entry of client data into software programs such as Outcome Tracker, MPERS and Downhome Solutions.
  • Submit quarterly grant reports for key funding sources as required in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Administration.
  • Develop portfolio reports to review with the Loan Review Committee and ASSETS Executive Team
  • Manage monthly loan payment transactions and monthly statement generation for Community Lending borrowers.

Team Management

  • Actively Involved in coordinating the training and development activities of employees within the Community Lending department.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and performance Improvement planning to aid in employee development.

Technical Assistance

  • Support the Community Lending Loan Officer in developing and providing technical assistance.
  • Coordinate and facilitate one on one financial coaching as needed or determined by programming.
  • Coordinate and facilitate group learning sessions as needed or determined by programming.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Commitment to the mission and programs of ASSETS.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to banking, finance, or business.
  • Experience with loan origination and/or loan processing.
  • Three years managing and developing a staff team.
  • Working knowledge of commercial lending practices and procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite.
  • Comfortable with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.

 

Working conditions

 

ASSETS is an office-based organization.  You may share a room with other staff, or even work in a large area alone. The work can be challenging at times with responsibilities for meeting targets and deadlines. Dress can be business casual to professional depending upon occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
