As part of CR, the Target Foundation focuses on where to best allocate funds to support various programs and initiatives. Or you might assist with sustainable global sourcing practices, and projects that foster environmental responsibility and ways to minimize our footprint at both the macro and store levels. Whatever your role with CR, you’ll help influence how Target leverages its distinctive brand and unparalleled resources to set the bar for responsible, sustainable and charitable business practices.

As a CR Director, you are responsible for advancing the companywide effort to bring the corporate citizenship strategy to contribute to our Target Forward ambitions. This will include building the strategy and oversight and implementations to Target’s corporate citizenship objectives. Focus areas including disaster, crisis response, and guest directed giving through grants, in-kind donations, volunteering on a national and global scale. Co-creating with internal and external on the ground partners in service of community needs.

  • Lead the execution of implementation of the corporate citizenship strategy
  • Work with a variety of internal and external partners integral to co-creating with Community to develop plans in service of community needs
  • Oversee the implementation of investments with internal and external partners that support Community Impact
  • Build processes to elevate community voice and efficient approach to unlock local engagement
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert by informing internal stakeholders about best practices and trends on corporate citizenship
  • Hire, coach and develop team
  • Lead cross-functional teams/initiatives that have material impact by gaining buy-in from senior leadership, alignment with teams, and clarity on investments
  • Partner with experts to develop an impact measurement plan to define value of corporate citizenship investments
  • Establish and ensure team’s adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance metrics
  • Partner with CR and relevant communications/marketing teams to ensure that stories are told, guest and team member engagement initiatives built and implemented effectively, and complementary philanthropic programming/portfolios are aligned
  • Drive culture change across the company in service of Target Forward

About you:

  • B.A./ B.S. in relevant field (4 years) or equivalent experience
  • Business acumen with at least 10-12 years business experience, or equivalent professional experience
  • Track record of results in strategy development and/or complex implementation
  • Philanthropic experience desired
  • Strong knowledge of social and environmental issues and stakeholder landscapes
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including track record of developing talent and managing performance
  • Proven problem solving, critical thinking, analytical and out-side of the box thinking skills – connecting dots and translating ideas into action
  • Strong ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships at multiple levels and lead cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to collaborate and engage with external partners (e.g., non-profits and other community stakeholders)
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategies
  • Successful experience in identifying, cultivating and growing partnerships, experience with public-private partnerships a plus
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, planning, and project management experience and ability to work independently, including the ability to multi-task and manage demands and/or projects simultaneously
  • Business communications, proven ability to present strategy and plans to internal partners at various levels including Sr. leadership
  • Business strategy experience, including benchmarking and business process and analysis.

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target’s needs.  A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location.A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that’s not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. 

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $113,800 to $204,900.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
